About Lyss

Lyss (she/they/we) is an artist, mutual aid organizer, and somatic facilitator. Born in Australia, Lyss’ passion for food culture and shared-table community has taken her across the globe.

For over a decade, Lyss has led food-related programming in Australia, Denmark, Italy, and the United States — including on-farm education, marketing, and communications work for food businesses.

Lyss brings expertise in marketing and communications for small food enterprises, alongside a law degree specializing in food policy.

With years of hands-on farming experience, Lyss trained at the Farm of Ideas in Denmark and at Blue Hill / Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture. A food innovator at heart, Lyss is passionate about bridging the farmer–consumer gap in creative, accessible ways.

Lyss founded the regional food festival Top Soil, a three-day educational gathering that brought together farmers, processors, chefs, food policy workers, and eaters in shared learning and celebration.

As a community food justice organizer, Lyss works daily to nourish her village — collaborating across the arts, cooking, hospitality, and mutual aid networks to expand access to organic food for all people, regardless of circumstance.

Lyss holds degrees in Law and Media (specializing in digital photography and food communications), as well as a diploma in Global Foods and Agricultural Business. Together, these inform her wide-angle approach to food systems communication. Lyss works intuitively, trusting the creativity that is alive and well between us all. In her photography, Lyss prefers to work manually with a digital camera, mainly presenting her final work with limited to no edits, using a natural filter method she developed called “Rainbow Scarf”.

At Lunchbar, Lyss shapes the project as a space of access, education, and connection — often from the driver’s seat of her beloved 2002 Jeep Cherokee Sport.

Lyss lives with the Ocean in her heart and the Catskill mountans out her window.
